Open-air reception stages on Katraj lawns and courtyards. Anchored structures, a generator sized properly, lighting as the main design, and an agreed plan for rain.
Katraj has the ground for an open-air reception, and an evening lawn with the lighting done properly beats almost any hall. But outdoors the stage is a structure rather than a backdrop, and it has to stand on its own in whatever the evening does.
There is no house power, no house light and no roof. All three have to be brought, and the generator is not an afterthought — a reception that loses light for ten minutes is the thing everyone remembers.
Then there are the rules nobody mentions until the night: how late sound may run outdoors, and how far it carries once it is dark.
Outdoors the decoration is the last thing on this list, not the first.
Ground-anchored and ballasted structure, built for an open site rather than propped against a wall.
After sunset the lighting is the decoration. Stage wash, perimeter light and path light, all planned together.
A generator sized for the whole load with headroom, cabling routed and covered, and a plan if it cuts.
Flower work chosen and mounted to survive an evening of wind rather than to look right for one photograph.
Lit walkways, a clear entrance and seating placed so guests are not crossing the service route.
What happens if it rains, decided in writing before the week of the wedding rather than on the evening.
Every photo here is from an event our team planned and ran.
A full open-air build: stage, lighting, entrance and paths across the grass.
Under cover from the start, which is the honest answer in the monsoon months.
In an enclosed yard, where the walls take out most of the wind and the sound.
On the plots further out, with power, light and everything else brought in.
Around water, where the lighting plan and the cable routing matter more than usual.
A day mandap and an evening stage on the same lawn, reworked between them.
The gate, the drive and the walk in, treated as its own scope.
A hundred guests on a small lawn, scaled for the space rather than squeezed into it.
Indoors, a reception is decoration. Outdoors it is a build with decoration on it, and these are the parts that actually carry the evening.
Everything runs off a generator: the stage wash, the perimeter lighting, the sound, the catering. It is sized for the full load with headroom rather than exactly, because a generator at its limit is a generator about to trip. We also agree what is on the backup circuit, which should always include the path lighting.
By eight nobody can see your flowers unless you have lit them. Stage wash, uplight through the trees, warm light along the walkways — that is what an outdoor reception looks like in the photographs, and it is where the money should go before it goes into more floral.
There is no wall to lean a backdrop against. The stage is anchored into the ground where the surface allows and ballasted where it does not, and it is specified for wind rather than for a still evening.
Open ground and a quiet night mean music reaches houses a long way off, and there is a time by which it has to stop. Set the finish time when you plan the running order and the evening ends on your terms. See reception decoration, mandap decorators in Katraj, and wedding planning in Katraj.
That search returns whoever advertises hardest in Katraj, not whoever runs the better event. It is a starting list, and the sorting is still yours to do.
Compare the breakdown rather than the total, check the crew is theirs and not hired in, and ask what they have already done in Katraj. Our contact page has both numbers and WhatsApp, and you will get an itemised scope back rather than one figure.

That is decided in writing before the week of the wedding, not on the night. Either the design carries a marquee from the start, or we agree a named fallback — which part moves under cover, what gets dropped, and who makes the call and by when. A reception with no agreed fallback is the one that goes wrong.
For a reception, yes. Stage lighting, perimeter wash, sound and catering together will exceed a domestic supply, and a trip halfway through the evening is the thing guests remember. We size it for the full load with headroom and keep the path lighting on a backup circuit.
There is a legal cut-off and, separately, there is how far sound carries across open ground on a still night. We plan the loud part of the evening earlier and bring the level down for the last hour, which almost always avoids the conversation with a neighbour entirely.
It is built to be. The structure is anchored into the ground where the surface takes it and ballasted where it does not, and it is specified for wind rather than for a calm evening. Nothing is propped against anything, because outdoors there is nothing to prop it against.
Yes, and on one ground it is considerably cheaper than two venues. The day structure is reworked into the evening one rather than struck and rebuilt, and the lighting goes in during the afternoon gap. It shows in the scope as one build with a changeover.
Lighting and power are a far bigger share outdoors than people expect, often rivalling the stage. The honest version of this budget puts generator, lighting and the weather fallback in before the floral. Send the ground, the date and the guest count and you will see it split that way.
There is no ranking that decides this, so the word means whichever team is right for your event. Plan With YOLO has planned events since 2013 out of Pune and handles lawn reception, marquee reception and courtyard reception in Katraj. The same crew covers Pune. Ask for the breakdown — décor, stage, sound, crew, transport — and compare like for like.
Start with teams that already work in Katraj — they know the venues, the loading access and the society rules, which is where most local jobs go wrong. Our office is in Anand Nagar off Sinhagad Road and the crew travels to Katraj with its own kit. Send the date, the venue and a rough guest count and you get a scope back the same day.
It moves with guest count, venue, the scale of décor and stage, and whether the date is in season. A wedding date in season and a weekday corporate meeting in Katraj are not comparable, so a quoted range before anyone has seen the brief is not worth much. You will get an itemised scope for your own event, and every line on it can move.
