A baby shower is one of the few functions where you know exactly where the main person will be for most of the event. She is seated. That single fact decides the whole design: the backdrop goes behind the seat, the light comes from the front, the ritual items go where she can reach them, and the guests need a route that lets each of them come close without a queue forming across the room.
The themes here are grouped by style, from traditional setups to modern minimal. Rituals differ between families and regions, so treat the traditional looks as a starting point and tell us what your family follows. Each card gives the palette, how the seat is treated and what the look needs to build. Many of these functions happen at home, so several themes here are chosen specifically for a flat with a small lift and a ceiling fan. We have been setting up family functions since 2013.

Build inside the hours your home or venue allows, a person on site through the function, and everything cleared after.
Start with two questions: what the family follows, and where she will be sitting. A baby shower is a seated function, so the design is really about one chair, the wall behind it, the light in front of it and the route guests take to reach it. Get those right and the theme is mostly a palette decision.
Fix the seat before anything else. Look for a wall that is not the one with the main door in it, because guests entering behind the seat ruin every photograph. Keep the light in front of her rather than above, since an overhead tube light throws shadows onto the face in exactly the pictures the family will keep. Leave real space in front of the seat, not behind, because rituals such as lap filling need guests to come up individually and step away again.
Then ask the family what they follow. Customs differ between families and regions, and the same function is done differently across Maharashtra alone. Tell us the sequence, what items are needed, who performs which part and whether elders will sit on the floor or on chairs, because floor seating changes the entire layout. Cost is driven by the size of the backdrop, the flower volume and type, how much is built rather than hired, whether anything hangs, and the hours you get to set up. Fresh flowers are the line that moves most, because a look built on one seasonal variety costs very differently across the year. Anything suspended, including a swing, needs a rated frame and a safe fixing point, which a rented flat rarely has.
Home functions have their own limits. Measure the lift before approving a large backdrop, since a panel that will not fit has to be rebuilt in sections. Check the ceiling fans, because balloon ceilings and fans are a bad combination. Confirm the society's rules on timing and on using the terrace. If the function is in a flat in an area like Aundh with a morning muhurat, the build usually has to happen the previous evening, which rules out fresh flower work unless it is set very early in the day.
Spend in four places. The seat and the backdrop behind it come first, because that is the photograph. Lighting is second and is the cheapest thing that changes how the whole function looks; a warm light in front of the seat beats another layer of flowers. The cake and gift table is third, raised on a plinth so it reads in pictures. A photo corner near the entry is fourth, and it takes pressure off the main seat by giving guests somewhere else to take pictures. Send the date and time, the venue with a photograph of the room and the wall you have in mind, the guest count, the rituals being followed and who is performing them, and two looks from this page. Mention what she will be wearing, because the outfit and the backdrop share every photograph and a strong colour in both is a mistake. Dohale jevan is the Maharashtrian baby shower, and the decor is built around a decorated seat for the mother-to-be, usually with a green palette, marigold, a brass lamp, a rangoli at the entrance and floor seating for elders. Modern minimal looks. White with one accent colour, or two curved arches with cylinder plinths, go up fast, come apart into pieces that fit a lift and photograph well against an ordinary wall. Avoid balloon ceilings where there are fans, and avoid anything suspended unless the ceiling has a genuine fixing point.
Put the seat against a wall that is not the one with the main door, so nobody walks into the background of photographs. Keep clear space in front of the seat for rituals where guests come up one at a time. Decide early whether elders will sit on the floor or on chairs, because floor seating needs much more room.

All four avoid pink and blue entirely, and the first two carry over to a naming ceremony, which saves you a second setup a few weeks later.
A balloon or paper backdrop goes up in a couple of hours. A fresh flower setup takes longer and has to be built close to the function so it does not wilt. Anything hung or built in sections wants more. Morning functions often mean an evening build the day before, which rules out some fresh flower work.
Three to four weeks is comfortable, and longer if the date falls in the wedding season, when flowers, crew and halls are committed early. A home function can be arranged closer, since the venue is already yours. Book sooner if you want a specific hall, a weekend slot or a look needing printed or built pieces.
