Shivajinagar is offices, colleges, courts and the oldest halls in Pune. The rooms are good and the approach is the hard part — so we start with when a vehicle can stand outside, not with what the stage will look like.
Shivajinagar is the administrative middle of the city. Government offices, colleges, the court complex, the bus stand and the station are all inside a short radius, and so are some of the oldest functioning auditoriums and halls in Pune. If you need a formal room on a weekday, this is where you find one.
What you also find is traffic that does not let up and kerbside space that does not exist. A tempo cannot sit outside most of these buildings for three hours, and on several roads it cannot sit outside at all between morning and evening. Several roads here will not let a goods vehicle stand during the day at all. That is not an obstacle if it is known on Monday, and it is a crisis if it is discovered on Saturday. We load in early, unload, and move.
A hall on the first floor of a building from the sixties may have a lift built for four people and a staircase with a turn in it. Backdrops come in sections or they do not come in. Measure the turn, not just the lift.
A good share of your audience will walk from the bus stand, the station or a two-wheeler parked two lanes away. That means clear signage from the gate to the room matters far more than a decorated drop-off, and it is much cheaper.
An event that ends at seven and a crew that starts loading at seven-thirty will be sitting in traffic until nine. We schedule dismantle either immediately or late, and say which when we quote.
