The thread running through this page is permission. A terrace wedding needs the building committee's approval and a music end time. A mall activation needs the centre's slot and its rules on noise and on what may be fixed to a floor. A temporary structure needs a fire view. A public event needs the police intimated. None of it is difficult, and all of it takes weeks, which is why we ask who owns the venue before we ask about the theme.
Honest fit: we suit a job large enough that a travelling crew is a small part of it, or one where you already work with us in Pune and want the same hands. For a small party in a single suburb, a planner who lives there will be simpler, and we will say so.

Find out who has to say yes before you fall in love with a venue. In Mumbai the permission list is longer than the décor list, and it is the part that decides whether your date survives at all.
Every venue type here answers to a different gatekeeper. A housing society answers to its committee and its neighbours, and will want the dates, the hours, the expected numbers, the sound plan and the parking arrangement in a written request. A mall answers to centre management, which controls the slot, the atrium footprint, what may be fixed to a floor and how loud a promotion may run at the weekend. A terrace or lawn answers to the building owner and, once a structure goes up, to a fire view. A public event brings the police in. Ask early who signs, because the calendar belongs to them and not to you.
Outdoor loudspeakers have to fall silent at night, and that single rule reshapes a wedding or a society programme more than any design decision. Put the main part of the evening where it finishes comfortably before the cut-off, move late music indoors, and tell the family early so nobody is disappointed at the last moment. For a baraat, agree the route, the duration and the band's end time with the building before the card goes to print.
Much of the work on this page happens above the ground floor. A terrace sangeet or a clubhouse function is limited by what the lift will carry and what the floor will hold, so a mandap frame or a heavy backdrop has to be designed in sections and assembled upstairs. Measure the lift before the design is approved, not after. Ask the building what sits below the terrace, because a slab over parking has a load limit somebody ought to be reading.
From the start of the rains to their end, this is a difficult city for open-air anything: roads flood, vehicles run late and a lawn becomes unusable in an afternoon. Those months belong indoors, with covered drop-off and a real buffer in the setup. The cooler end of the year has the opposite problem, crowded rather than wet, and the good rooms go months ahead.
