Dehu Road is a cantonment town on the Mumbai highway at the far end of PCMC. Permissions work differently here, access is easy, and there is real open ground.
Dehu Road is a cantonment town at the western end of PCMC, on the Mumbai highway. Like Pune Camp, the body that decides what may be put up and where is not the municipal corporation — a different process, different forms and a different timeline. Known in advance it is routine; found out late it is the reason a build does not happen.
The population is a mix of services families and civilian housing, and the calendar reflects it: hall weddings and receptions, retirement and farewell functions, society annual days, Ganpati and Navratri, and family ceremonies. Near defence establishments there are also the usual sensible limits on height and on anything released into the air, which we check with the venue rather than assume.
The advantage is space and access. There is genuine open ground here, and the highway means a truck reaches it without difficulty — so a large function can be built from nothing at a cost that is hard to match closer to the city. That is quoted as infrastructure first and event second.

Two things here are different from the rest of PCMC, and both are easy once known.
On cantonment land it is not the municipal corporation. The process, the forms and the timeline differ. Start four to six weeks out for anything on or beside a street, and ask the venue who they deal with rather than guessing.
Tall gates, high mandap spires and anything on a mast may be restricted depending on exactly where the venue sits, and anything released into the air is out. The venue will know; where it does not, the authority does.
A truck reaches the site without trouble, so more can be pre-assembled and brought complete in one trip. That is a real saving on a large build. Time the load-in away from the peak, though — the highway is an advantage early and a liability at six in the evening.
Levelling, flooring, structure, generator, cabling, tower lights, water, washrooms. None of it photographs and all of it decides whether the evening works.
Good ground and façade lighting rather than beams aimed at the sky. It photographs better and nobody has to ask anyone's permission for it.
