Society Ganpati
Ten days of mandap, decoration and aarti, with an immersion at the end.

Parvati is settled Marathi Pune below the temple hill — old societies, traditional ceremonies, and a calendar built around the festival year rather than around parties.
Parvati, the residential area below the temple hill, is settled, middle-class, largely Marathi-speaking Pune, and the function year here follows the festival calendar more closely than almost anywhere else in the city. Ganpati is the big one, Navratri the next, and around them sit the family ceremonies — satyanarayan puja, munj, vastu shanti, naming days, shashtipoorti.
That makes the seasonality extreme. There are weeks in the year when every society in the area wants a mandap at once, and weeks when very little happens. Booking early for Ganpati is not advice, it is the difference between the design you wanted and whatever is left. We say that plainly rather than taking the booking and improvising.
Physically it is older housing: four and five-storey societies, small lifts, staircases with a turn, lanes where a tempo cannot stand for hours, and floors that a deposit is held against. All manageable, all requiring measurement rather than assumption.
Ten days of mandap, decoration and aarti, with an immersion at the end.
Decoration inside a flat for the ten days, built to fit a room still being lived in.
Nine nights with flooring, lighting and sound in the society compound.
Altar, seating and prasad counter, with the layout agreed with the family.
Morning ceremonies with a prescribed layout and a feast after.
Functions in the halls nearby, built and struck inside the booked session.
Sixtieth birthday ceremonies, which seat a great many elders.
Housewarming ceremonies, set up early and cleared before the guests tire.
The festival season, and the family ceremonies around it.
Mandap and decoration for the ten days, a daily aarti arrangement, and the immersion planned in.
Nine nights in the compound, with flooring, lighting and sound that survives being used every evening.
Havan position, facing, the priest's space and the elders' seating settled before a flower is ordered.
Panels that pass a small lift or a turning staircase and join on site.
Low firm platforms and stools, so the people performing the ritual are not stranded on the floor.
Frames down, waste carried away with us, hall or flat handed back the way we found it.
Ten days in the year account for a large share of the decorating work in this area, and everything about them rewards planning early.
Every society in the area wants a mandap in the same week. Designs, materials and crew all run out. A booking made in advance gets the design you chose; one made late gets what is left, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise.
A mandap that looks good on day one and tired by day four is a false economy. Materials, fixings and the daily reset are part of the quotation, because the decoration is handled every single day by people performing aarti.
The idol arrives and leaves, and both involve a crowd, a route and a trolley. That is settled with the committee weeks before, with police intimation for the procession going in at the same time.
Twice a day a crowd stands in front of the mandap. Decoration that narrows that space, or cabling that crosses it, is a problem on day one and every day after. We draw the standing area first.
A tall mandap looks right and still has to get upstairs. Panels in sections, joined on site, sized to the lift or the staircase turn.
That search returns whoever advertises hardest in Parvati, not whoever runs the better event. It is a starting list, and the sorting is still yours to do.
Three questions separate the shortlist quickly: has the team worked in Parvati before, is the quotation itemised, and who is physically on site on the day. Our contact page has both numbers and WhatsApp, and you will get an itemised scope back rather than one figure.
Can't find yours? Call or WhatsApp — a planner answers.
Before the season rather than during it — ideally a couple of months ahead. Every society in Parvati wants a mandap in the same week, and designs, materials and crew genuinely run out. Booked early you get the design you chose; booked late you get what is left, and we will tell you that honestly.
Yes. It is built to fit a room that is still being lived in for ten days, with the floor and furniture protected and the aarti space kept clear. Set up before the arrival and taken down after the immersion.
Yes, always. The havan position, the facing and where the elders sit are the family's and the priest's call, settled before anything is designed.
No, and for a puja or a munj the family almost always has their own arrangement. We coordinate timings, counters and prasad with whoever you have chosen, but we do not cook and we take no cut of the food bill.
It is a measurement, not a problem. Send a photo of the lift with a tape in it and we will tell you whether the mandap or backdrop goes up whole, in sections or up the stairs, and what each costs.
The hall first, as early as it will take you in the season. The decoration needs two to three weeks, and a week is possible for a small puja.
That phrase has no official meaning, so the useful question is what to compare. Plan With YOLO has planned events since 2013 out of Pune and handles society ganpati, household ganpati and navratri evenings in Parvati. The same crew covers Sahakar Nagar and Bibwewadi. Ask what happens to the price when a number moves; a single figure tells you nothing.
The shortlist worth having is teams who have set up in Parvati before; venue quirks are the part nobody writes in a quotation. Our office is in Anand Nagar off Sinhagad Road and the crew travels to Parvati with its own kit. Send the date, the venue and a rough guest count and you get a scope back the same day.
There is no standard rate — the cost follows the guest count, the venue, how much décor and stage you want, and the date. A wedding date in season and a weekday corporate meeting in Parvati are not comparable, so a quoted range before anyone has seen the brief is not worth much. You will get an itemised scope for your own event, and every line on it can move.
