Erandwane holds the most traditional function calendar in Pune — munj, satyanarayan puja, vastu shanti, karyalaya weddings. The halls are booked by the slot and the rituals have an order. We work to both.
Erandwane is old, settled, middle-class Pune, and its functions reflect that. The work here is weighted towards ceremony rather than celebration: thread ceremonies, satyanarayan pujas, vastu shanti, naming days, and weddings held in a mangal karyalaya rather than a banquet hall. The guest list is family and neighbours, the timings are set by the muhurat, and the person who knows how it should look is usually the grandmother.
That changes what a decorator is for. The ritual has a prescribed layout — where the havan sits, which way the couple or the boy faces, where the elders can sit and get up again. Décor goes around that, never through it. We ask the family or their priest what the ceremony needs before we draw anything.
The practical constraint is the slot. Karyalayas here are booked in sessions, morning and evening, and the hall was somebody else's function before yours and is somebody else's after. The whole build and the whole clear-up live inside your hours, and going over is charged by the hall, not forgiven.
The ceremony first, the decoration around it.
Havan position, facing, the priest's space and the elders' seating settled before a single flower is ordered.
Built to the hall's height and your session, in sections that go up and come down quickly.
Low platforms and firm stools, so the people performing the ceremony are not stranded on the floor.
Even light on the ritual space, because the pictures the family keeps are taken there and not on the stage.
Enough for the mantras and the announcements to carry, without filling a residential lane.
Setup inside your hours and the hall handed back clean, so the next booking is not your problem or your bill.
A morning ceremony with a specific layout, a feast after, and a short window for both.
Hall weddings on a booked session, with the mandap built and struck inside it.
Home or hall pujas, with the altar, seating and prasad counter set properly.
Housewarming ceremonies, set up early and cleared before the guests tire.
Daytime functions in a flat or a society hall, built and struck in one morning.
An evening reception after a morning wedding, often in a different hall on the same day.
Shashtipoorti and sahasrachandra functions, which are ceremonies more than parties.
Building Ganpati, Navratri, annual days and the hall bookings around them.
These functions go wrong in two places: the hall\'s rules and the ritual\'s order. Both are knowable in advance.
Morning or evening, the hour you may enter and the hour you must be out. Many karyalayas also fix when the previous booking vacates, which is the hour that actually matters to your decorator. Every honest quotation is built on those numbers.
Nails in the wall, adhesive on panelling, open flame away from the havan, a particular height limit, or a deposit against damage. These vary hall to hall and they decide whether a design is buildable. We ask before drawing, not after you have approved it.
Where the havan sits and which way people face are not design decisions. Settle them with whoever is conducting the ceremony, then decorate around them. A beautiful mandap facing the wrong way has to be rebuilt on the morning.
These functions have more older guests than almost any other kind. Low firm seating they can leave unaided, a step-free route from the door to their chairs, and shade or a fan where they will sit — that is what makes the day comfortable, and it costs almost nothing.
Marigold and mogra held overnight in a van look it. For a morning ceremony the flowers are picked up that morning, which means an earlier start and a better-looking mandap in the photographs.
Nobody ranks planners on how their events went. What the results rank is visibility, which is why the shortlist matters more than the order it arrives in.
Ask for an itemised scope, ask who is on site on the day, and ask what they have set up in Erandwane already. The answers sort a list of ten down to two. Our contact page has both numbers and WhatsApp, and you will get an itemised scope back rather than one figure.

Yes, and it is the common job here. We work inside the session you have booked, build in sections so it goes up and comes down fast, and leave the hall clean. Tell us the hall's entry and exit hours at the quotation stage, because they change the manpower.
Yes, always. The havan position, the facing and the elders' seating are the priest's and the family's call. We ask before designing and build the décor around the ceremony, never through it.
Yes. Two functions in one day is normal here, sometimes in two different halls. It is planned as two builds with two crews or one crew and a gap, and the quotation says which.
No, and for a munj or a puja the family almost always has their own. We coordinate the caterer you choose — timings, counters, prasad and service on the day — but we do not cook and we take no cut of the food bill.
Less than a banquet function of the same guest count, because the hall provides the room and the seating and the work is the mandap, the entrance and the lighting. Send the hall, the date and the session and you get a range the same day.
The hall first, as early as it will take you, especially in the wedding and munj months. The decoration needs three to four weeks, and two is possible for a puja or a naming ceremony.
Nobody awards that title, so it comes down to which team fits the event you are actually running. Plan With YOLO has planned events since 2013 out of Pune and handles munj and thread ceremony, karyalaya weddings and satyanarayan puja in Erandwane. The same crew covers Pune and Kothrud. Ask for the breakdown — décor, stage, sound, crew, transport — and compare like for like.
Look for a team that has already worked in Erandwane, because venue access, power and society timings are local knowledge and cost you a day to learn. Our office is in Anand Nagar off Sinhagad Road and the crew travels to Erandwane with its own kit. Send the date, the venue and a rough guest count and you get a scope back the same day.
It moves with guest count, venue, the scale of décor and stage, and whether the date is in season. A wedding date in season and a weekday corporate meeting in Erandwane are not comparable, so a quoted range before anyone has seen the brief is not worth much. You will get an itemised scope for your own event, and every line on it can move.
