Griha pravesh in a flat
The common one: a new apartment, family and close friends.

A griha pravesh happens in a flat with no furniture, often no curtains, sometimes no fan fitted yet. Everything that makes it feel like a ceremony has to be carried in and carried back out the same day.
The flat was handed over days ago. The paint is new enough to smell, the floor has never had furniture on it, and half the tower is still empty. That is a different job from decorating a home people already live in.
What it actually means: there may be no society committee to ask for permission yet, so the builder's site office is who you deal with. The service lift may be the only one running, and it may be booked by three families moving in the same week. Water and power are usually on, but not always where you need them. And the flat echoes, because nothing in it is soft.
So we survey the building before we design anything — which lift, which floor, who gives permission, where the nearest socket is. For a ritual in a home that is already lived in, see Satyanarayan puja decoration; this page is about the first function in a brand-new one.
The common one: a new apartment, family and close friends.
The vastu ritual, often the same morning as the griha pravesh.
More space, usually an outdoor element at the entrance.
A new office, with staff and sometimes clients — see office opening pooja.
Retail, where the function and the opening are the same event.
Ritual in the morning, a gathering in the evening.
Several families in one building on one day, often after possession.
Outside the city, so the whole setup travels.
Half of this is access, not decoration.
Which lift, which floor, what the site office allows and what time the crew may enter. In a new tower this is the first question, not an afterthought.
Rangoli, toran and marigold at a door that has never been decorated before, and which every guest photographs on the way in.
Platform, kalash and a backdrop, so the photographs have something behind them other than a bare new wall.
Covering, mattresses and bolsters brought in, plus chairs for elders. There is nothing in the flat to sit on.
A small speaker because an empty flat echoes badly, and warm light because new fittings are usually bare and cold.
Struck the same day and the lift freed, because the family is usually shifting in within the week and the lift is shared.
Every photo here is from an event our team planned and ran.
Everything here comes from the building being new rather than from the ritual.
In a tower handed over last month there may be no registered society and no committee. Permission comes from the builder's site office or the facility manager, and they have their own hours and their own rules about crews, lifts and noise. Ask before the date is fixed, not the evening before.
Often the only one commissioned, and in possession season several families are moving in the same week and have booked it. Its depth and door width decide the size of every panel we bring. A backdrop that cannot reach the fourteenth floor is not a design, it is a problem discovered at six in the morning.
Bare walls, bare floor, no curtains. The priest cannot be heard past the second row and the whole room sounds harsh. Floor covering, seating mattresses and one small speaker solve it, and without them a modest gathering feels like a warehouse.
In a new building the corridor, the terrace or the floor above may still be a site. Guests wander. A closed door, a marker and somebody at the lift stop it, and it is worth thinking about before forty relatives arrive.
Most families do the pooja and shift within the same week, sometimes the same day. We strike early and free the lift rather than holding it while a loaded tempo waits downstairs. Tell us the moving date and the two get sequenced instead of colliding.
New paint, new flooring, new fittings. Everything stands on weighted frames, nothing is taped to a wall, and the floor is sheeted where the ritual happens. The family will live with these surfaces for years.
See possession ceremonies for the handover itself, home function decoration for a house already lived in, and inauguration ceremonies for a workplace.
Nobody ranks planners on how their events went. What the results rank is visibility, which is why the shortlist matters more than the order it arrives in.
Compare the breakdown rather than the total, check the crew is theirs and not hired in, and ask what they have already done in Pune. Our contact page has both numbers and WhatsApp, and you will get an itemised scope back rather than one figure.

Griha pravesh is the first formal entry into a new home; vastu shanti is the ritual performed to settle the house, and in most Pune families both happen on the same morning with the same priest. The decor setup serves both, but the samagri lists differ, so ask your priest for each.
Usually the builder’s site office or facility manager, because a society may not be registered yet. They set the hours a crew may enter, which lift may be used and what noise is allowed. This has to be checked before the date is fixed rather than the evening before.
In a new tower the service lift is often the only one commissioned, and during possession season several families are moving in the same week and have booked it. Its depth and door width decide how every panel is built, so we ask for the floor and the lift before drawing anything.
Yes, that is the normal case. Floor covering, seating, backdrop, light and a small speaker all come with us. The speaker matters more than people expect: a flat with no curtains or furniture echoes, and the priest cannot be heard past the second row without it.
Only if nobody sequences it. Tell us the moving date and we strike early and free the lift rather than holding it while your tempo waits downstairs. Most families do the pooja and shift within days, so this is the normal situation rather than an awkward one.
It follows the size of the setup, how much fresh flower is used, whether seating and prasad are included, and the access — floor, lift and whether an early muhurat forces a build the night before. Send a photograph of the flat, the floor and the muhurat time.
It is worth treating that search as a shortlist, not an answer — no one certifies a best. Plan With YOLO has planned events since 2013 out of Pune and handles griha pravesh in a flat, vastu shanti pooja and bungalow or row house in Pune. Ask who is on site on the day and who answers the phone if something slips.
The shortlist worth having is teams who have set up in Pune before; venue quirks are the part nobody writes in a quotation. Our office is in Anand Nagar off Sinhagad Road and the crew travels to Pune with its own kit. Send the date, the venue and a rough guest count and you get a scope back the same day.
The number depends on guests, venue, décor and stage scale, and how close to the date you book. A wedding date in season and a weekday corporate meeting in Pune are not comparable, so a quoted range before anyone has seen the brief is not worth much. You will get an itemised scope for your own event, and every line on it can move.

New house? Send the muhurat and the floor.
The date and time, which floor, and whether the lift is running. Those three decide most of the plan.
