Munj and thread ceremony
A morning ceremony with a fixed layout, a feast after, and a short window for both.

Sadashiv Peth keeps the most traditional calendar in Pune — munj, satyanarayan, vastu shanti, karyalaya weddings — in lanes where a tempo cannot turn and the hall was built before anyone thought about loading.
Sadashiv Peth is the old city, and the function calendar here has not changed much in a long time. Thread ceremonies, satyanarayan pujas, vastu shanti, naming days, and weddings in a mangal karyalaya rather than a banquet hall. The timings follow the muhurat, the guest list is family and the lane, and somebody in the house knows exactly how it is supposed to look.
That makes the decorator's job a supporting one, which is the right way round. The ritual has a prescribed layout — where the havan sits, which way the boy or the couple faces, where the elders can sit and get up again. We settle that with the family or the priest first and build around it. A beautiful mandap facing the wrong way is rebuilt on the morning, and mornings here are short.
The hard part is physical. These lanes were laid out for people and handcarts. A tempo often cannot reach the door, and where it can it certainly cannot stand. Material is unloaded at the nearest point it can stop and carried in, and that carrying is real crew hours that belong in the quotation rather than in a surprise.
A morning ceremony with a fixed layout, a feast after, and a short window for both.
Hall weddings on a booked session, with the mandap built and struck inside it.
Home or hall pujas, with the altar, seating and prasad counter set properly.
Housewarming ceremonies, set up early and cleared before the guests tire.
Morning functions in a flat or a wada, set up and struck before lunch.
Sixtieth birthday ceremonies, which seat a great many elders and need to.
An evening reception after a morning wedding, often in a second hall.
Household Ganpati decoration for the ten days, built to fit a room that is still lived in.
The ceremony, the hall, and the lane in between.
Havan position, facing, the priest's space and the elders' seating settled before a single flower is ordered.
Where the vehicle can stop, how far material is carried and how much crew that needs — measured, then quoted.
Built in sections small enough to be carried through a narrow door and joined inside.
Low firm platforms and stools, so the people performing the ceremony are not stranded on the floor.
Even light where the ritual happens, because that is where the photographs the family keeps are taken.
Setup inside your booked hours and the hall handed back clean, so the next booking is not your bill.
Everything about a Sadashiv Peth function is predictable. None of it is forgiving.
Not the address — the nearest place a vehicle can legally stop and the distance from there to the door. That distance sets the crew size and the time, and it is the single biggest variable in the price. We walk it before we quote.
If it cannot go through a narrow door on somebody's shoulder, it is not getting in. Frames are designed in sections and joined inside. That is slower to assemble and the only thing that works.
Where the havan sits and which way people face are not design decisions. Settle them with whoever is conducting the ceremony, then decorate around them.
Shahabad, kota and mosaic floors in these buildings hold turmeric, oil and rangoli colour in the grout. Sheeting goes well past where people will sit, and light furniture leaves the room rather than being draped.
In a lane this tight your function is everybody's function. A word the day before, about when the vehicle comes and when the sound stops, keeps the whole thing pleasant.
That search returns whoever advertises hardest in Sadashiv Peth, not whoever runs the better event. It is a starting list, and the sorting is still yours to do.
Three questions separate the shortlist quickly: has the team worked in Sadashiv Peth before, is the quotation itemised, and who is physically on site on the day. Our contact page has both numbers and WhatsApp, and you will get an itemised scope back rather than one figure.

Yes. Material is unloaded at the nearest point the vehicle can stop and carried in, and frames are built in sections small enough to go through a narrow door. That carrying is real crew hours, so tell us the lane and we will price it honestly rather than discover it on the morning.
Yes, always. The havan position, the facing and where the elders sit are the family's and the priest's call. We ask before designing and build the décor around the ceremony, never through it.
Yes. Older buildings mean narrow doors, low beams and floors that stain, so the frame comes in pieces and the sheeting goes further than you would expect. Set up and struck the same day.
No, and for a munj or a puja the family almost always has their own arrangement. We coordinate timings, counters and prasad with whoever you have chosen, but we do not cook and we take no cut of the food bill.
Less than a banquet function of the same guest count, because the hall provides the room and the seating. The work is the mandap, the entrance and the lighting. Send the hall, the date and the session and you get a range the same day.
The hall first, as early as it will take you, particularly in the wedding and munj months. The decoration needs two to three weeks, and a week is possible for a small puja.
That phrase has no official meaning, so the useful question is what to compare. Plan With YOLO has planned events since 2013 out of Pune and handles munj and thread ceremony, karyalaya weddings and satyanarayan puja in Sadashiv Peth. The same crew covers Erandwane and Shivajinagar. Ask which parts are handled in house and which are being passed to a third party.
The shortlist worth having is teams who have set up in Sadashiv Peth before; venue quirks are the part nobody writes in a quotation. Our office is in Anand Nagar off Sinhagad Road and the crew travels to Sadashiv Peth with its own kit. Send the date, the venue and a rough guest count and you get a scope back the same day.
The number depends on guests, venue, décor and stage scale, and how close to the date you book. A wedding date in season and a weekday corporate meeting in Sadashiv Peth are not comparable, so a quoted range before anyone has seen the brief is not worth much. You will get an itemised scope for your own event, and every line on it can move.
