A dohale jevan setup comes down to two spots. The first is the seat, usually a decorated jhula or a cushioned chair on a low platform, where the mother-to-be sits through the rituals, the blessings and a long line of photographs. The second is the rukhwat, the display table where the family lays out sweets, handmade pieces, baby things and craft work for guests to look at.
Families follow different customs, and no two functions look the same. Some keep it to a green saree, a few flowers and a home-cooked spread. Others want a full stage, a swing, a themed rukhwat and an evening barsa to follow. We ask what your family does and build the setup around that, rather than fitting you into a template.
Around those two spots we add the oti bharan corner, a backdrop, a cake or dessert table, a separate photo corner and seating with back support for elders. Plan a dohale jevan around the seat and the rukhwat, and the rest follows. Those two spots decide where guests stand, where the photographer works and how much floor you have left. Fix them early, then add the oti bharan corner, the photo corner and the food table around them.

A swing photographs beautifully, so if you want one it must be fixed firmly, sit low enough to get on and off without climbing, and barely move. If she is well into her eighth or ninth month, a chair with proper back support is usually kinder, and it looks just as good with the same backdrop behind it.
Green and gold is the palette families ask for most often, with mango leaves, marigold strings and fresh greens. Some prefer soft pastels or a single flower in one colour. Fresh-flower jewellery is usually made to match her saree, so tell us the shade early and we will keep the backdrop from clashing with it. Keep her seat away from direct sun, hot lights and the kitchen door, and leave a clear path to it.
The rukhwat is where guests spend the most time, so it deserves more planning than it usually gets. Families put out homemade sweets and snacks, craft work done by the women of the house, small handmade pieces, baby clothes and toys, and decorative items collected for the occasion. Some add a name board or a written message for the mother-to-be.
Our part is the staging: table height and length, a backdrop behind it, risers and trays so the back row is visible, cloth that matches the palette and light that does not wash out the colours. Tell us roughly how many pieces are coming and we will size the table to suit. A crowded rukhwat photographs badly, so two shorter tables usually beat one long, packed one.
Both work, and the choice is really about guest count. A home function feels personal and keeps costs down; a clubhouse or hall gives you room for a raised seat, guest tables and a proper display.

A barsa is set up around the cradle, not around a chair. The cradle sits at the centre, draped and decorated, with a name reveal behind it: a board, a floral letter panel or a curtain that opens when the name is announced. Many families hold the naming in the evening, so warm lighting and a clean backdrop matter more than a bright colour scheme.
Around it you need seating for elders close to the cradle, a small table for the ceremony items, a spot for gifts and a photo corner for guests. If we have already done the dohale jevan, we can carry the same palette into the barsa so both sets of photographs sit together.
Two to three weeks is enough for most dohale jevan décor, and a simple home setup can be arranged in about a week. Book earlier if your date falls on a popular auspicious day or a festival weekend. Decide the date, then the venue, then send photographs of the space and the saree shade. Setup takes two to four hours and finishes well before she arrives, and we clear everything the same day.
