Trees and dressing
Trees from four feet to thirty, dressed to a decided palette — baubles, ribbon, picks and a top — with a skirt and a weighted base that a child cannot pull over.

A Christmas setup has one job in a mall, a cafe or an office lobby: people stop, take a photograph and put it online with your name in the frame. That is a lighting and sightline problem before it is a decoration problem, and it is why a tree that looks good in a catalogue can look flat the moment it is in your atrium.
Christmas is the one season in Pune where decoration is bought by commercial buyers rather than by families. The people searching for it are mall marketing teams, cafe and restaurant owners, hotel F&B managers, office admin heads and society committees — and all of them are buying the same outcome, which is that somebody walks in, stops, and takes a picture.
That changes what gets built. A photo corner needs a light source on the subject's face, not only on the prop, or every photograph taken in it is a silhouette. A tree in a double height atrium has to be read from the floor above as well as from in front of it. A cafe with four tables cannot give up two of them to a tree, so the work goes on the ceiling and the window instead. A facade is seen from a moving car at forty kilometres an hour, which means fewer, larger elements and no fine detail at all.
We build to the sightline. Before anything is quoted, somebody stands where your customer will stand, and where they will stand with a phone held up, because those are two different places and only one of them is in the drawing.
From one window to a full atrium. The parts are the same; the scale and the sightlines are not.
Trees from four feet to thirty, dressed to a decided palette — baubles, ribbon, picks and a top — with a skirt and a weighted base that a child cannot pull over.
Light curtains, warm string work, wreaths and large simple shapes on the outside face, rigged so the cabling is invisible and the fixings do not mark your building.
A set piece people queue to stand in: a sleigh, a gift stack, a doorway or an arch, with lighting on the face and your brand legible in the frame.
A carol group, a Santa with a proper suit and a brief, a craft or cookie-decorating corner for a mall weekend, and the marshalling to keep a queue moving.
Overnight or pre-opening installation so you lose no trading hours, and a full removal in the first week of January with the space left as it was found.
Your logo and campaign line worked into the set rather than stuck on it, printed in-house so a last-minute change is a reprint and not a crisis.
A central tree or set piece, a photo queue that does not block a fire route, and a weekend activity calendar. The mall version is judged on dwell time and on how many photographs carry the mall name, so the brand goes where a phone camera will find it.
The highest-return decoration in Pune per rupee, and the one most often overdone. Ceiling and window work, one small tree, one corner that photographs well, and nothing that costs you a table through December.
Lobby tree, porch and porte-cochere light work, a photo corner that holds up under the lobby's own lighting, and a setup that survives three weeks of guests walking past it.
Reception tree, a photo corner for the team photograph, desk-level touches and the decoration for the office Christmas party itself. Installed on a weekend so Monday morning is a surprise.
Clubhouse tree, a lit entrance, a crib or nativity where the society wants one, and a children's corner. Usually paired with the New Year party, which is the same crew ten days later.
Decide the photograph first. Pick the one picture you want people to take and build the set for that. A decoration budget spread evenly across a whole floor produces nothing anyone photographs; the same budget concentrated into one corner produces a queue.
Choose a palette and refuse the rest. Red and gold, or white and silver, or green and copper. Three colours is a scheme; six is a storeroom. This single decision does more for how expensive the result looks than the budget does.
Check the light that is already there. Most Pune malls and cafes are lit from above with cool white. Warm Christmas light under cool white reads grey. Either we add warm light at face height or we work with the cool palette deliberately — but it has to be a decision, not a surprise.
Book before the end of November. Trees, light curtains and Santa suits in Pune are a finite pool and December is one shared month. Enquiries that arrive in the second week of December get the leftovers.
Agree the removal date when you agree the install. A setup still up on the fifteenth of January stops reading as festive and starts reading as neglected. We put the strike date in writing at the start.
If you are also running a staff party or a New Year night, say so at the briefing. Much of the same structure, lighting and crew carry across both, and planning them together costs noticeably less than planning them three weeks apart.
That search returns whoever advertises hardest in Pune, not whoever runs the better event. It is a starting list, and the sorting is still yours to do.
Three questions separate the shortlist quickly: has the team worked in Pune before, is the quotation itemised, and who is physically on site on the day. Our contact page has both numbers and WhatsApp, and you will get an itemised scope back rather than one figure.
Can't find yours? Call or WhatsApp — a planner answers.
By the end of November. Trees, light curtains, trussing and crew are all shared across the city for a single month, and the choice narrows quickly through the first week of December.
Yes, and the removal date is agreed in writing with the install. Standard is the first week of January. The space is handed back as it was found, with fixings made good.
That is the normal cafe brief. The work goes onto the ceiling, the window and one corner — a hanging installation, a lit window, a wreath line and a small tree that sits where a table would not. You keep your covers.
Yes, with a proper suit, a brief on how to handle children and a queue marshal. For a mall weekend we would normally plan two shifts rather than one long one, because the suit is hot and a tired Santa photographs badly.
No. We do not do catering. We will work your caterer, baker or cafe kitchen into the plan — including where a cookie-decorating counter sits and how it is serviced — but the food is theirs.
Yes, and it is cheaper done together. The same lighting, structure and crew cover the reception setup and the party, and one recce serves both.
Search results do not rank planners by quality, so the label is only ever someone's opinion. Plan With YOLO has planned events since 2013 out of Pune and handles malls and high streets, cafes and restaurants and hotels and banquets in Pune. Ask for the breakdown — décor, stage, sound, crew, transport — and compare like for like.
Start with teams that already work in Pune — they know the venues, the loading access and the society rules, which is where most local jobs go wrong. Our office is in Anand Nagar off Sinhagad Road and the crew travels to Pune with its own kit. Send the date, the venue and a rough guest count and you get a scope back the same day.
It moves with guest count, venue, the scale of décor and stage, and whether the date is in season. A wedding date in season and a weekday corporate meeting in Pune are not comparable, so a quoted range before anyone has seen the brief is not worth much. You will get an itemised scope for your own event, and every line on it can move.

These are companies Plan With YOLO has set up and run events for. The crew, the kit and the way a day is planned are the same ones that come to a family function.
