Katraj weddings happen in older halls, karyalaya venues and family homes on lanes a long truck cannot enter. We size the mandap to what can actually reach your door, and hand it over dressed, with time in hand before the muhurat.

Weddings in Katraj are mostly hall weddings, and the hall is usually an older one. Mangal karyalaya venues, wedding halls off the Satara road, temple halls and society halls carry most of the ceremonies here, with a good number still held in the courtyard of a family bungalow. These are honest working rooms with fixed ceilings, fans over the floor, pillars in the middle of the span and a session you share with another family the same day.
What makes this side different is the approach. The lanes leading off the main road were laid out long before anyone parked two cars per flat, and the last stretch climbs. A loaded vehicle takes longer to get here than the distance suggests, and once it turns into the lane it cannot stand there being emptied. So the mandap is designed as something that arrives in parts, goes in quickly and is assembled inside.
We measure the venue, mark the mandap on its own floor plan, and agree the flowers and colours with you before anything is ordered. The same team stays on the job from that drawing through to the clear-up.
Every photo here is from an event our team planned and ran.
Every part is quoted separately, so you can see the structure priced against the flowers.

Frame, pillars, canopy and platform built in pieces that pass a narrow lane, a compound gate or a staircase turn.
Strung marigold, garlands, drapes and hangings in your chosen colours, bought fresh and fitted on the day.
Warm light on the couple and the agni area, run off the power points the hall actually has.
Couple seats, elders' chairs, the aisle and the doorway, styled so the whole ceremony floor matches.
On-site build to your muhurat, a walk-through with you, and a clean strike before the next booking.
The traditional orange and yellow look that suits an older hall and daylight photographs.
Designed around the hall's own pillars and fans, so no guest spends the pheras looking at a post.
A compact structure for a bungalow courtyard, anchored for the evening wind off the slope.
A free-standing build for halls where nothing may be fixed to walls, pillars or the ceiling.
Roses, orchids and foliage in soft shades, for couples who want a lighter look.
A lifted floor so the back rows of a flat-floored hall can actually see the pheras.
A smaller stage and floral backdrop for the ceremony before the wedding.
The same room turned around for the evening, with a stage, sofa and backdrop.

A Katraj mandap is planned from the gate inwards. Fix the venue, the muhurat and how a loaded vehicle will reach the door, and the design follows from those three facts instead of from a photograph.
Nothing long can turn into most of these internal lanes, and nothing can stand still in one while it is emptied. The climb on the last stretch adds to it, so a vehicle that would be on site in half an hour on a flat route needs an earlier start here. We settle access before we draw. A mandap that has to come up a lane is made as a sectional frame with joints, short lengths and panels, assembled inside the hall, rather than one wide structure carried in whole. Tell us the gate height, the turn at the end of the lane, the staircase width and whether there is a lift, and the design is made to pass them.
| Approach to the venue | What can reach it | How the mandap travels | Add time for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main road frontage | One closed load at the gate | Long sections, joined inside | A single unload window |
| Lane parked on both sides | Smaller vehicle, more trips | Short frame lengths | The gap between trips |
| Turn a long vehicle cannot take | Shift to a small vehicle nearby | Carry-size pieces only | A staging point and extra hands |
| Hall above ground level, stairs only | Hand-carried up | Panels sized to the stair turn | A bigger crew, not a bigger vehicle |
| Climb on the last stretch | Lighter loads, slower run | Heavy items first, flowers last | An earlier start than a flat route |
| Home with a compound gate | Vehicle stands on the road | Sectional platform, built on site | Neighbours' parking and a clear path |
Karyalaya venues here have fixed ceilings, fans over the floor, pillars in the middle of the span and a set number of power points along one wall. Most will not let you drill or nail anything, so the mandap stands on its own frame and the backdrop is free-standing. A fan directly over the ceremony area rules out tall hanging work. A pillar in the wrong place decides which way the couple face. We take those measurements on a site visit and mark the mandap, the priest's seat, the agni and the family seating on the hall's plan, so none of it is being argued about on the morning.
Halls here sell sessions, not the building. Another family may have the room before you, after you, or both. Ask for three things in writing: the hour the crew may enter, the hour everything must be out, and whether the previous décor is cleared by the hall or by that family. Then work backwards. Structure first, then drapes and the platform, then lighting, and fresh flowers last so they are still open when guests walk in. Fix the handover an hour before the muhurat and protect that hour as buffer.
Plenty of Katraj weddings still happen at home, in a bungalow courtyard or under a shamiana on the plot beside it. There is no session to fight, but there is no ready flooring, no power backup and no loading bay either, and the vehicle usually stands on the road while everything is carried through the gate. We keep the footprint to what the courtyard allows, anchor for the wind that drops down the slope in the evening, and keep the path from the gate to the elders' seating clear. Parking and the load-in hour are worth agreeing with neighbours in advance.
Haldi, mehendi and the reception are covered under wedding decoration. The styles, and the order a mandap goes up in, sit on mandap decorators in Pune, while other functions around here are on Katraj event management. Send the date and the hall through contact.
The listings for Katraj are ordered by ad spend and review count. Both are worth something, and neither answers whether the team has worked your kind of venue.
Ask for an itemised scope, ask who is on site on the day, and ask what they have set up in Katraj already. The answers sort a list of ten down to two. Our contact page has both numbers and WhatsApp, and you will get an itemised scope back rather than one figure.

Yes, karyalaya and older hall weddings are most of our work here. Send us the session hours and the hall's rules first. We measure on a site visit, design the mandap around the pillars, fans and available power, build on a free-standing frame with nothing drilled inside the hours you are given, and strike so the hall is handed back clean.
Yes, as long as the load-in is planned for it rather than discovered on the morning. A loaded vehicle is slower on the climb up this side of the city, so the crew starts earlier. Material comes in a smaller vehicle, or in one quick unload at the gate, and the mandap is built in sections the lane, gate and staircase can pass.
Yes. Home and courtyard mandaps are regular work here, including bungalows with an open plot beside them. We keep the footprint to what the space allows, anchor the structure against evening wind, keep everything on free-standing frames so nothing is fixed to the house, and leave a clear path from the gate to the elders' seating. A site visit or photos with measurements comes first.
Cost is driven by how big the structure is, which style you pick, how much fresh flower it carries and of which kind, the lighting, and the venue's access and session rules. A lane that needs several small trips and a hand-carry adds hours and hands. Send your date, the hall and your guest count for an itemised quote.
Book once the muhurat and the hall are both fixed. For a date in the wedding season that usually means a few months of notice, since florists, lighting and halls are all under pressure from November to February. If the date is close, send us the venue and its access hour first, because that decides what can be built in time.
Often yes, and it usually costs less than building twice. Some parts are reset rather than rebuilt, drapes and flowers are changed, and a sofa and backdrop go in where the pheras area was. The turnaround has to be written into the run-sheet, because a shared hall session leaves a fixed number of hours between the two functions.
Reviews and ads decide who appears first, not who runs the better event. Plan With YOLO has planned events since 2013 out of Pune and handles marigold karyalaya mandap, mandap around pillars and home courtyard mandap in Katraj. The same crew covers Pune. Ask each name you shortlist for an itemised scope rather than one figure, and compare the same lines.
Look for a team that has already worked in Katraj, because venue access, power and society timings are local knowledge and cost you a day to learn. Our office is in Anand Nagar off Sinhagad Road and the crew travels to Katraj with its own kit. Send the date, the venue and a rough guest count and you get a scope back the same day.
There is no standard rate — the cost follows the guest count, the venue, how much décor and stage you want, and the date. A wedding date in season and a weekday corporate meeting in Katraj are not comparable, so a quoted range before anyone has seen the brief is not worth much. You will get an itemised scope for your own event, and every line on it can move.
