Undri weddings happen on the society lawn, on a podium deck or on an open plot. We anchor the mandap where pegs are not allowed, light it for an outdoor ceremony, and finish the build before the muhurat.

Undri grew on wide plots, and that shows in where its weddings happen. Many of the societies here have a lawn of their own, some have a podium deck sitting over the parking, and there are still open plots that families take for a day. So the usual brief is not a hall with a ceiling. It is a ceremony in the open, with the sky as the backdrop and the ground as the problem.
Outdoors changes what a mandap has to be. Nothing can be driven into paving or a podium slab, so pillars stand on ballast and the frame is cross-braced. Wind gets up through the afternoon, so the canopy is tensioned instead of draped. Guests walk on grass in wedding clothes, so flooring and matting go down before anything is built on top of them. Power comes off a society point that was never meant for a lighting rig, so the load is worked out first.
The rest is the committee. Hours, sound cut-off, which gate vehicles may use and when the lawn has to be back to normal, all in writing before we draw.
Every photo here is from an event our team planned and ran.
Each line is quoted on its own, so site preparation is never hidden inside a flower price.

The mandap, guest seating, aisle and vehicle route drawn on a measure of your lawn or plot before anything is ordered.
Ballast bases, cross-bracing and a tensioned canopy for ground where pegs are refused, so the frame stands in wind.
Level flooring under the mandap and matting along the guest route, laid first because nothing goes under a built frame.
Warm light on the couple and along the walkway, with the load worked out against the power point you are allowed.
Flower choices picked for the sun, heat and wind at your ceremony hour, with softer blooms kept in shade.
Layout, timings, gate route and clear-up commitments prepared for your managing committee to approve before the date.

On open ground the mandap is a structure first and a decoration second. In Undri most ceremonies are held outdoors, so the questions that matter are what holds the frame down, what the guests walk on and where the power comes from. Get those three right and the flowers are the easy part.
Four kinds of open space, and they are not interchangeable. A society lawn is the most common and the friendliest: flat, fenced, already lit, with a gate the caterer can use and a committee that will put your hours in writing. A podium deck over the parking looks similar at first glance but behaves differently, because it is a slab with a waterproof layer under it and nothing at all may be driven into it. An open plot taken for the day gives you room for a long guest list and gives you nothing else, so flooring, power, water and even the route a vehicle takes have to be brought with you. And the banquet rooms inside the newer townships, along with the lawn venues on the road up towards NIBM, take the ceremonies that want a ceiling. Tell us which one you have, because the same mandap is built four different ways.
| Element | What open ground does to it | How it is handled |
|---|---|---|
| Anchoring | Pegs are refused on paving, decks and maintained lawns | Ballast bases, cross-bracing, and a wider footprint than an indoor frame |
| Flooring | Grass is soft and uneven, and hard on heels and elders | Level flooring under the mandap, matting along the guest route, laid before the build |
| Power | The society point was never meant for a lighting rig | Load worked out first, cable routes taped and covered, a backup line agreed |
| Sun | The angle at your ceremony hour decides who squints | Mandap turned so the couple and the camera are not facing into it, shade added if needed |
| Wind | Gets up through the afternoon and pulls at loose fabric | Canopy tensioned rather than draped, tall pieces weighted, nothing left unbraced |
| Dew and damp | Overnight moisture soaks fabric, seating and cables | Anything built the night before is covered, cables kept off the ground, seating wiped at dawn |
| Sound | The cut-off applies outdoors even when a hall is exempt | Speakers kept small and aimed inward, and the programme timed to end inside the limit |
Ask early, because a lawn carries more rules than a hall. Pegs and stakes are usually refused outright, and so is anything fixed to the compound wall, the railings or the trees. Vehicles are generally kept off the grass, so the frame, the flooring and the chairs are carried in from the gate or the internal road, and that carry is real time in the build plan. Outdoor sound stops at the hour printed in the rules, and nobody will stretch it because the pheras ran late. A generator has to stand where its noise does not sit under someone's bedroom window. And the lawn is handed back as it was found, which for us means lifting flooring, collecting every weight and clearing petals the same night.
Outdoors the order is not the same as indoors, because most of it goes under the frame. Flooring and matting are laid first, since you cannot get a sheet under a standing mandap. Anchoring and bracing come next, then the canopy is tensioned, then lighting and cable runs are taped and covered while there is still light to see them by. The agni platform sits on a non-combustible base with a clear lane around it, away from the canopy edge and from anything that can blow into it. Seating, aisle and entry styling follow, and fresh flowers are last so they are still crisp at the muhurat. We finish an hour early, and that hour exists to be wasted.
For palettes across the whole wedding, see wedding decoration themes and the general mandap decorators in Pune page. If you would rather one person ran the dates, the vendors and the day itself, our wedding planners take that on. Send the lawn measurements and your committee rules through contact.
That search returns whoever advertises hardest in Undri, not whoever runs the better event. It is a starting list, and the sorting is still yours to do.
Compare the breakdown rather than the total, check the crew is theirs and not hired in, and ask what they have already done in Undri. Our contact page has both numbers and WhatsApp, and you will get an itemised scope back rather than one figure.
Can't find yours? Call or WhatsApp — a planner answers.
Yes, society lawns and podium decks are most of our Undri work. We measure the lawn, draw the mandap with the seating and the vehicle route on it, and put the layout, hours and clear-up commitments in front of your committee. The frame is anchored with ballast and bracing, and the lawn is handed back the same night.
With weight and geometry instead of pegs. Pillars sit on ballast bases, the frame is cross-braced so it works as one structure rather than four separate posts, the footprint is set wider than an indoor mandap, and the canopy is tensioned so wind passes through instead of pulling. Nothing is driven into paving, a podium slab or maintained grass.
The plan already assumes both. Tall pieces are weighted and braced, the canopy is tensioned rather than draped, and light fabric is used sparingly. For rain we agree a covered option in advance, either a tent over the ceremony area or a room held as a fallback, and the call is taken a few hours before guests arrive.
Yes, and it saves a second build. The flooring, much of the lighting and part of the structure stay in place, and the ceremony area is turned around into a stage and seating for the evening. Tell us both timings when you enquire, because the turnaround needs its own window and the sound cut-off still applies outdoors.
Cost is driven by the size of the frame, how much anchoring and bracing an open site needs, whether flooring and matting are being laid, the lighting and power arrangement, the flower type and quantity, and how far everything is carried from the gate. An empty plot costs more to prepare than a ready lawn. Send the site details for an itemised quote.
Earlier than for a hall, because committee approval is a step of its own. Once the date is fixed, the lawn booking, the hours, the sound rules and the gate route are settled first, and only then can the mandap be drawn and quoted properly. In the wedding months, good dates on a society lawn go several months ahead.
Reviews and ads decide who appears first, not who runs the better event. Plan With YOLO has planned events since 2013 out of Pune and handles society lawn mandap, podium deck mandap and open plot mandap in Undri. The same crew covers Pune. Ask what happens to the price when a number moves; a single figure tells you nothing.
Look for a team that has already worked in Undri, because venue access, power and society timings are local knowledge and cost you a day to learn. Our office is in Anand Nagar off Sinhagad Road and the crew travels to Undri with its own kit. Send the date, the venue and a rough guest count and you get a scope back the same day.
There is no standard rate — the cost follows the guest count, the venue, how much décor and stage you want, and the date. A wedding date in season and a weekday corporate meeting in Undri are not comparable, so a quoted range before anyone has seen the brief is not worth much. You will get an itemised scope for your own event, and every line on it can move.
