Kharadi weddings happen in high-rise clubhouses, podium decks and banquet rooms, where every piece travels up in a lift. We design the mandap to that lift, clear the fire and sound rules first, and build in the hours the society allows.
A Kharadi wedding is usually a building wedding. The ceremony happens in a society clubhouse, on a podium deck between the towers, on a terrace, or in one of the banquet rooms that sit among the offices here. There is rarely a ground-level lawn, and almost never a place to stand a truck beside the mandap. Material is unloaded at the service entry below and comes up in the goods lift, piece by piece.
That single fact settles most of the design. The longest item we can bring is the longest item your lift will take, so the frame, the platform and the backdrop are sectional, and they are joined on the floor where they will stand. Committee approval, the goods-entry hours and the rule about drilling into walls, tiles and railings come before the drawing, not after it.
The rest is timing. Families here often work locally, relatives land close to the date, and the society restricts noisy work to set hours. We build inside those hours and hand the mandap over before the muhurat.
Every part is quoted separately, so you can see the structure priced against the flowers.
We measure the goods lift, its door, thresholds and the route to the room before the mandap is designed.
Pillars, canopy, platform and backdrop built in pieces sized to your lift and joined where they will stand.
Committee permission, goods-entry hours, lift slots and crew passes arranged before setup day.
Fresh floral work, marigold, drapes and hangings tied to free-standing frames, with nothing drilled.
Warm ceremony lighting run inside the power a clubhouse, deck or banquet room can actually give.
Structure up the previous evening where allowed, flowers in the morning, everything cleared the same night.
Every photo here is from an event our team planned and ran.
A compact mandap for an indoor amenity room, kept clear of beams, ducts and sprinkler heads.
An open-air ceremony between the towers, weighted and braced rather than driven into the slab.
A small ceremony on a building terrace, anchored for wind with a covered option ready.
A room ceremony with controlled light, for a guest list the clubhouse cannot seat.
Flowers and drapes dropped from a frame instead of pillars, so the room stays open.
Clean lines, few flowers and strong light, for a short guest list and an early muhurat.
A ring-ceremony stage that goes up after office hours and comes down the same night.
A matching stage and backdrop for the evening functions, in the mandap's colours.
Tell us the date, the guest count, the budget and the feeling you want in the room. We ask the questions most people forget.

In Kharadi the mandap is designed around the building, not the other way round. Before a style is picked, three things get settled: what the lift will take, what the venue allows near an open flame, and which hours the society lets you work in.
Very little here can be driven to the door. The vehicle is emptied downstairs, the load goes into the goods lift, and your floor receives it piece by piece, so the longest single item in the design cannot be longer than the lift car will take on its diagonal. We measure the car, the door opening, the lobby turn outside it and every step or threshold on the route, then draw the mandap to fit. Book the lift slot in writing as well. In a tall building, a lift you are not allowed to hold turns a short load-in into a long one, and the same lift is wanted again at midnight for the strike.
| Mandap part | How it goes up | Measure this first |
|---|---|---|
| Pillars and canopy frame | Short lengths, joined on the floor | The lift car's diagonal and its door opening |
| Platform and flooring | Interlocking sections, laid on site | Any step, ramp or threshold on the route |
| Backdrop panels | Flat panels, stood up and locked | Room height, and the drop under the beams |
| Drapes and fabric | Rolled, carried by hand | Where they can tie, since nothing may be drilled |
| Lights and cabling | Cased, with stands sent separately | Available points and the load the society permits |
| Fresh flowers | Last run, kept cool until fitted | Passenger lift access once goods hours close |
Ask about open flame before you ask about anything else. An indoor amenity room or banquet hall has smoke detectors and sprinkler heads in the ceiling, and a havan under them is a conversation with the management, not an assumption. Where it is allowed, the fire sits in a contained kund on a non-combustible base, with clear air above it, nothing hanging within reach of the flame, and ventilation thought through. Where it is not allowed, the pheras move to the deck or terrace and the rest of the function stays inside. Either answer changes the layout, so get it early and in writing.
A podium looks like open ground and behaves like a slab. Nothing can be driven into it, so the structure is weighted and braced instead of staked, and railings are not anchor points either. Wind behaves differently up there than at street level and usually picks up in the evening, so light fabric and tall hanging work need a plan. There are also flats directly above you. Outdoor sound has to stop at night, and the dhol at the entry, the band and the sangeet playlist all sit under that rule, so the loud part of the evening goes first.
Most societies restrict goods movement and noisy work to defined hours, which sits badly with a morning muhurat. The way around it is to split the build. Frame, platform, backdrop and lighting go up the previous evening inside the permitted window, drapes are dressed early, and fresh flowers come on the last run in the morning, because flowers fitted the night before will not be open when guests arrive. Everything then comes down the same night, since an amenity space is shared and the next booking is often the next morning.
Mandap styles, and the order they are built in, sit on mandap decorators in Pune. If the dates and vendors should be run too, that is wedding planning, and everything else these buildings host is on Kharadi event management. Tell us the date and the venue through contact.
That search returns whoever advertises hardest in Kharadi, not whoever runs the better event. It is a starting list, and the sorting is still yours to do.
Three questions separate the shortlist quickly: has the team worked in Kharadi before, is the quotation itemised, and who is physically on site on the day. Our contact page has both numbers and WhatsApp, and you will get an itemised scope back rather than one figure.
Can't find yours? Call or WhatsApp — a planner answers.
Yes. On a podium deck the structure is weighted and braced rather than staked, because nothing may be driven into the slab and railings are not anchor points. Drapes tie to the frame, not to the building. We also plan for the wind that picks up between the towers in the evening, and keep a covered option ready if the forecast turns.
Yes, by splitting the build. Frame, platform, backdrop and lighting go up the previous evening inside the permitted window, and fresh flowers come on an early run in the morning so they are open when guests arrive. Share the goods-entry hours and the lift slot when you enquire, because that timetable decides the whole plan.
That is the venue's decision, so ask before you book the date. Indoor rooms have smoke detectors and sprinkler heads, and many limit open flame. Where a havan is allowed, the fire sits in a contained kund on a non-combustible base, with clear air above it and nothing hanging near the flame. Where it is not, we move the pheras outdoors.
Outdoors, plan for sound to stop at night, because there are flats directly above and around a podium or terrace. Indoors you get more room, but the building still has neighbours awake. We schedule the dhol at the entry, the band and the loud part of the evening early, and keep the later hours for dinner and quieter music.
Cost follows how tall and wide the structure is, the style, the quantity and kind of fresh flower on it, the lighting, and how hard the venue is to work in. A lift-only load-in with restricted hours and a night strike needs more hands and more trips than a ground-floor hall. Send your details for an itemised quote.
Book the moment the date and the venue are fixed, and earlier still if the ceremony is in a clubhouse, since societies release amenity bookings to members on their own calendar. We then need committee approval, the lift slot and the venue's fire rule confirmed before the design is final. For a wedding season date, a few months ahead is sensible.
Search results do not rank planners by quality, so the label is only ever someone's opinion. Plan With YOLO has planned events since 2013 out of Pune and handles clubhouse hall mandap, podium deck mandap and terrace pheras setup in Kharadi. The same crew covers Pune. Ask what happens to the price when a number moves; a single figure tells you nothing.
Start with teams that already work in Kharadi — they know the venues, the loading access and the society rules, which is where most local jobs go wrong. Our office is in Anand Nagar off Sinhagad Road and the crew travels to Kharadi with its own kit. Send the date, the venue and a rough guest count and you get a scope back the same day.
There is no standard rate — the cost follows the guest count, the venue, how much décor and stage you want, and the date. A wedding date in season and a weekday corporate meeting in Kharadi are not comparable, so a quoted range before anyone has seen the brief is not worth much. You will get an itemised scope for your own event, and every line on it can move.
