Mandap Decorators in KothrudEvery ritual has a measurement

Kothrud weddings still follow the full ritual list, and each ritual asks for something physical from the mandap. We design from that list rather than from a reference photo, and hand the mandap over dressed before the mangalashtaka.

Wedding mandap decorators in KothrudA sequence, not a single ceremony

Kothrud families still do the whole thing. A wedding here is not one ceremony but a sequence, often opening the evening before with seemantpujan, carrying on through gaurihar puja, mangalashtaka, kanyadaan, the havan and saptapadi, and closing with a reception in the same hall that night. The mandap has to serve all of it, and each part asks for something different.

The venues suit that. Mangal karyalaya halls, older wedding halls and temple halls here were built for ritual first and photography second, which is why they have a plain floor, a fixed ceiling and a session sold by the hour. What they do not have is flexibility, so the design has to be right before the day rather than adjusted on it.

The other thing about a wedding here is who is in the room. Guests are often three generations of both families, with elders seated for hours and children in front. That decides seating, sightlines and the path between the chairs as much as any flower does.

  • Running since 2013, 500+ events planned
  • Designed around the full ritual sequence
  • Karyalaya, temple hall and society hall setups
  • Seating and sightlines planned for elders
  • Dressed and handed over before mangalashtaka
  • Each setup quoted on its own

A Kothrud wedding is designed backwards from its ritual list. Write the sequence down with the priest, mark what each part physically needs, and the mandap almost draws itself.

Start from the ritual list, not the reference photo

Ask the priest for the order of ceremonies and roughly how long each one runs, then set that against the hall's session hours. Most arguments on the morning come from a design chosen for how it looked and then asked to host something it was never sized for. The table below is the version we fill in at the first meeting, and it travels with the build plan.

RitualWhat the mandap must holdReady by
SeemantpujanA low seat, a puja surface, elders' chairsThe evening before
Gaurihar pujaA quiet corner with a small puja setup and lightWell before the muhurat
Antarpat and mangalashtakaStanding room for the couple and the cloth holdersMandap fully dressed
Akshata showerFront rows within reach, nothing fragile overheadThe same moment
Kanyadaan and havanSpace round the kund and a base that cannot catchBefore the fire is lit
SaptapadiA walking circle free of drapes, cable and pillarsChecked at the walk-through
ReceptionStage, sofa, backdrop and a queue that keeps movingDuring the meal break

Standing room is what most mandaps get wrong

A mandap is sized for people standing, not sitting. During the mangalashtaka the couple stand facing each other with the antarpat held between them, which puts two more people inside the structure holding a cloth at shoulder height, plus the priest. Then the akshata is showered, so the front rows have to be close enough to reach and nothing fragile or low-hanging should sit in the way. Saptapadi needs a clear walking circle with no drape trailing into it, no cable crossing it and no pillar in the path. We mark those on the floor at the walk-through and walk them ourselves before the family arrives.

Two ceremonies, two setups, one hall

If your seemantpujan is the evening before, you are building twice in the same room. The usual arrangement is a smaller puja setup in a side area that evening, then the main mandap dressed overnight or very early the next day, with flowers going on last. Tell the hall this when you book, because a family that asked only for the wedding session may find the room locked the night before. The reception is the third setup, and it happens during the meal break, so whatever is being reset has to be designed to reset.

Elders, the priest and the path between them

Plan the seating for the people who will not move. Elders sit through the whole ceremony, close enough to see and hear, on a chair rather than a mat, with a route to them that never crosses the pheras or the fire. The priest wants a low seat, the samagri within arm's reach, and enough room to tend the fire without reaching across a guest. Parents on both sides feature in several rituals and belong inside or immediately beside the mandap, not in the second row. Fans over the floor and pillars in the span decide how tall the hanging work can be and which way the couple face, so measure them before anything is fixed.

The full ceremony sequence, and the vendors around it, is on our Maharashtrian wedding planning page. Styles and build order sit on mandap decorators in Pune, and the rest of the family calendar on Kothrud event management. Send the dates and the hall through contact.

How to shortlist the best event planners in Kothrud

Nobody ranks planners on how their events went. What the results rank is visibility, which is why the shortlist matters more than the order it arrives in.

A team that has worked Kothrud knows the access, the power and the society timings. Ask for that, ask for the breakdown, and ask who runs the day. Our contact page has both numbers and WhatsApp, and you will get an itemised scope back rather than one figure.

Mandap decorators in kothrud — FAQsQuestions people ask us.

Our seemantpujan is the evening before in the same Kothrud hall. Can both be set up?

Yes, and it is planned as two builds rather than one. A smaller puja setup goes into a side area for the evening ceremony, then the main mandap is dressed overnight or very early, with flowers fitted last. Book the hall for both sessions when you confirm, because a booking made only for the wedding day leaves the room locked the night before.

The halls here have fans and pillars in the middle. How does that change the mandap?

It changes the height and the direction. A fan turning above the ceremony area takes tall hanging work off the table, and a pillar in the span decides which way the couple face, so nobody spends the pheras looking at a post. We measure the fans, pillars and power points on a site visit, then mark the mandap, the kund and the seating on the hall's own plan.

Is there room inside the mandap for the antarpat and the mangalashtaka?

There is, because the mandap is sized for standing rather than sitting. The couple stand facing each other, two people hold the cloth at shoulder height and the priest works beside them, so the structure is drawn with all of that inside it. We also keep the front rows close enough for the akshata and keep low-hanging work clear.

Can the havan be lit inside the hall?

Usually yes in a traditional hall, but confirm it with the venue rather than assuming. Where it is allowed, the kund sits on a base that will not catch, with open air above it, no drape or string within reach of the flame, and somewhere for smoke to go. Older halls with enclosed ceilings can be strict, so ask when you book the session.

How is the cost of mandap decoration worked out in Kothrud?

Cost follows the number of setups, the size of the structure, the style, how much fresh flower goes on it and of which kind, and the lighting. A wedding with seemantpujan the evening before and a reception the same night is three builds rather than one, and that is usually the biggest factor. Send your dates and guest count for an itemised quote.

How early should we book mandap decorators for a Kothrud wedding?

Book as soon as the muhurat and the hall are fixed. Through the November to February season, halls, florists and lighting are all working at capacity, and the halls here go to families who confirm early. If the date is near, send the venue's session hours first, because they decide whether the full ritual sequence can be set up in time.

Which is the best event management company in Kothrud?

Reviews and ads decide who appears first, not who runs the better event. Plan With YOLO has planned events since 2013 out of Pune and handles traditional marigold mandap, seemantpujan setup and gaurihar corner in Kothrud. The same crew covers Pune. Ask which parts are handled in house and which are being passed to a third party.

How do I find mandap decorators companies near Kothrud?

Look for a team that has already worked in Kothrud, because venue access, power and society timings are local knowledge and cost you a day to learn. Our office is in Anand Nagar off Sinhagad Road and the crew travels to Kothrud with its own kit. Send the date, the venue and a rough guest count and you get a scope back the same day.

What do top rated event planners in Kothrud charge?

The number depends on guests, venue, décor and stage scale, and how close to the date you book. A wedding date in season and a weekday corporate meeting in Kothrud are not comparable, so a quoted range before anyone has seen the brief is not worth much. You will get an itemised scope for your own event, and every line on it can move.
