Board and thickness

Sunboard is the right answer for a huge number of indoor panels and cut-outs, and the wrong answer outdoors in a Pune summer. The whole skill is knowing which job is which, and what thickness it needs.
Sunboard — sunpack, foam PVC, by several names — is a rigid foamed sheet. Printed vinyl is mounted onto it and the whole thing becomes a stiff, light panel that stands up on its own, cuts to any shape and costs very little.
That makes it the default for indoor signage, cut-out standees, exhibition panels, directional boards and photo-booth props. It is light enough to hang on double-sided tape and stiff enough to stand against a wall.
What it does not do is sun. In direct Pune summer heat, thin sunboard bows — the board expands, the mounted vinyl does not, and the panel develops a curve. It is not a printing fault and it cannot be flattened back. Outdoors, the answer is flex on a frame, or ACP, or thicker board in shade.
The mounting is the part that separates a clean panel from a bubbled one.

Eco-solvent on vinyl, with the colour set for a panel seen under indoor light rather than sun.
Rolled on under pressure so no air is trapped. Hand-squeegeed large panels are where bubbles come from.
Matte or gloss where fingers, trolleys or cleaning cloths will reach it.
Straight cut to size, or contour cut to a shape — letters, logos, figures, arrows.
Easels, back supports, standoffs or tape, so the panel does what you need without extra work.
Every photo here is from an event our team planned and ran.
Reception, directional and department boards.
Contour cut around a person or product, with a back support.
Light, rigid panels that travel and mount without a frame.
Cut shapes, hashtags and selfie frames for events.
For cafes and counters, laminated for wiping.
Schools, offices and societies.
Individual cut pieces mounted on a wall with standoffs.
Arrows, floor plans and seating charts for a single date.
Two questions decide nearly every sunboard job.
3mm is fine up to roughly two by three feet mounted flat on a wall. Beyond that, or if it has to stand unsupported, it needs 5mm — a large 3mm panel bows under its own weight and looks cheap within a week. For a life-size cut-out, 5mm with a proper back support is the only honest answer.
If yes, do not use sunboard. In direct Pune summer sun the board expands while the mounted vinyl does not, and the panel curves. We have been asked to "fix" bowed outdoor sunboard many times and it cannot be fixed. Outdoors the answer is flex on a frame for large areas, or ACP for something permanent.
Bubbles under the vinyl are a mounting fault, not a material one — air trapped because the vinyl was squeegeed on by hand at speed. Rolled mounting under pressure prevents it. If a panel arrives bubbled, that is a remake, and it should be treated as one.
Sunboard cuts to a clean white edge, which is usually fine and occasionally wrong — a dark panel with a white rim around it looks unfinished. For those we edge-print or wrap the vinyl around, and it is worth asking for.
For rigid outdoor work see flex, for lighter indoor board foam board and PVC, and for displays standee printing.
Nobody ranks planners on how their events went. What the results rank is visibility, which is why the shortlist matters more than the order it arrives in.
Ask for an itemised scope, ask who is on site on the day, and ask what they have set up in Pune already. The answers sort a list of ten down to two. Our contact page has both numbers and WhatsApp, and you will get an itemised scope back rather than one figure.

A rigid foamed PVC sheet — also sold as sunpack or foam board — onto which printed vinyl is mounted. The result is stiff, very light, cuts to any shape and costs little, which is why it is the default for indoor panels, cut-outs and exhibition work.
Priced per square foot by thickness, with contour cutting charged separately because it is machine time. 3mm is cheaper than 5mm. Our rates are published on the printing rates page, and lamination is shown as its own line.
3mm up to about two by three feet mounted flat on a wall. 5mm for anything larger, anything that has to stand unsupported, and every life-size cut-out. A large 3mm panel bows under its own weight and starts looking cheap within a week.
Not in direct sun. The board expands in Pune summer heat while the mounted vinyl does not, and the panel develops a permanent curve that cannot be flattened. In shade it survives; in sun use flex on a frame or ACP instead, and we will tell you that rather than take the order.
Because the vinyl was squeegeed on by hand and trapped air. It is a mounting fault, not a material one, and rolled mounting under pressure prevents it. A bubbled panel should be remade rather than accepted.
Yes, contour cut to any outline — letters, logos, arrows, figures or a life-size person. Thicker board holds a fine cut better. Cut letters are usually mounted on a wall with standoffs so they sit slightly off the surface and throw a shadow.
There is no ranking that decides this, so the word means whichever team is right for your event. Plan With YOLO has planned events since 2013 out of Pune and handles indoor signage panels, life-size cut-out standees and exhibition and stall panels in Pune. Ask which parts are handled in house and which are being passed to a third party.
Start with teams that already work in Pune — they know the venues, the loading access and the society rules, which is where most local jobs go wrong. Our office is in Anand Nagar off Sinhagad Road and the crew travels to Pune with its own kit. Send the date, the venue and a rough guest count and you get a scope back the same day.
The number depends on guests, venue, décor and stage scale, and how close to the date you book. A wedding date in season and a weekday corporate meeting in Pune are not comparable, so a quoted range before anyone has seen the brief is not worth much. You will get an itemised scope for your own event, and every line on it can move.

The size, whether it stands alone, and whether it is in sun. If it is outdoors we will suggest something else.
