Foam board and PVC board get used interchangeably in Pune and they are not the same material. One is a paper-faced sandwich that dents if you look at it; the other is solid plastic that holds a screw.
Foam board is a foam core with paper or card faces. Extremely light, very cheap, takes a clean cut — and it dents easily, the paper face marks, and it cannot take moisture at all. It is the right choice for presentation boards, mounted photographs, short-life displays and architectural models.
Rigid PVC — the same family as sunboard — is solid foamed plastic throughout. Heavier, stronger, takes a screw, survives humidity and handling. It is the choice for anything that will be moved, handled, screwed to something or used for more than a few weeks.
The practical test: if somebody will carry it, lean it, screw it or wipe it, use PVC. If it sits on an easel for a day, foam board is cheaper and looks identical.
Mounted artwork and layouts for a meeting or a jury.
Prints on board, ready to lean or hang, without framing.
Foam board cut precisely for scale models.
Light rigid panels that travel and mount without a frame.
Individual pieces for walls, backdrops and photo setups.
PVC with a wipeable laminate for daily use.
Indoor signage and display boards.
Shapes, frames and photo-booth props for events.
Cutting is most of the value here.
Foam or PVC and the thickness, chosen from how the piece will be used rather than from price.
Vinyl printed and rolled on under pressure, with lamination where it will be touched.
Straight cut, contour cut to a shape, or individual letters and numbers.
Left clean, edge-printed, or vinyl wrapped round, so a dark panel does not carry a white rim.
Easel backs, standoffs, hanging slots or screw mounting, depending on where it goes.
Corner-protected, because both boards damage at the corners in transit more than anywhere else.
Every photo here is from an event our team planned and ran.
Four questions settle it.
Foam board dents on the corners in a car boot and the paper face shows every knock. If it travels more than once, use PVC.
Foam board does not hold a screw — the fixing crushes the core and pulls out. PVC holds a screw properly, which matters for anything wall-mounted or bracketed.
Foam board’s paper face stains and delaminates with any moisture, so a menu board wiped daily is gone in a fortnight. PVC with a laminate is wipeable indefinitely.
2mm and 3mm are for mounting flat; they bow if stood up at any size. 5mm upwards for free-standing pieces and cut letters, and 10mm where a letter needs real depth or a panel has to be rigid across a span.
Foam board fails almost immediately in weather. PVC is weather-tolerant but still bows in direct Pune summer sun when it has vinyl mounted on one face. For outdoors, use flex on a frame or ACP, and we will tell you that rather than take the order.
See sunboard printing, standees and cut-outs, and rates.
That search returns whoever advertises hardest in Pune, not whoever runs the better event. It is a starting list, and the sorting is still yours to do.
Three questions separate the shortlist quickly: has the team worked in Pune before, is the quotation itemised, and who is physically on site on the day. Our contact page has both numbers and WhatsApp, and you will get an itemised scope back rather than one figure.

Per square foot by material and thickness, with cutting charged as machine time. Foam board is cheaper than PVC at the same thickness. Both are on the printing rates page, with lamination shown separately.
2mm or 3mm for work mounted flat on a wall or an easel. 5mm upwards for anything free-standing or for cut letters. 10mm where a letter needs visible depth or a panel must stay rigid across a span. Thin board stood upright bows at almost any size.
Not if it gets wiped. The paper face stains and delaminates with moisture, so a daily-wiped board lasts about a fortnight. Use rigid PVC with a wipeable laminate instead — slightly more at the start and it lasts indefinitely.
Not in sun. Foam board fails almost immediately in weather. PVC tolerates weather but still bows in direct Pune summer heat when vinyl is mounted on one face. Outdoors the right answers are flex on a frame or ACP, and we will say so rather than sell you a board that will curve.
Yes, contour cut to any outline. Thicker board holds a fine cut better and gives letters real depth. Cut letters are usually mounted on standoffs so they sit off the wall and throw a shadow, which is what makes them read as signage rather than as stickers.
That phrase has no official meaning, so the useful question is what to compare. Plan With YOLO has planned events since 2013 out of Pune and handles presentation boards, mounted photographs and architectural models in Pune. Ask each name you shortlist for an itemised scope rather than one figure, and compare the same lines.
The shortlist worth having is teams who have set up in Pune before; venue quirks are the part nobody writes in a quotation. Our office is in Anand Nagar off Sinhagad Road and the crew travels to Pune with its own kit. Send the date, the venue and a rough guest count and you get a scope back the same day.
There is no standard rate — the cost follows the guest count, the venue, how much décor and stage you want, and the date. A wedding date in season and a weekday corporate meeting in Pune are not comparable, so a quoted range before anyone has seen the brief is not worth much. You will get an itemised scope for your own event, and every line on it can move.

Boards to print? Tell us how they will be used.
Size, how many, and whether anyone will carry, screw or wipe them. That decides which board, not the price.
