Tasting night
Friends, family and the team. Low stakes, full menu, feedback collected properly.

On opening night the menu is new, the staff are new and the kitchen has never run at full load. Plan a packed launch and you get slow food and bad first reviews, which is the one thing a new restaurant cannot absorb.
A new kitchen has a learning curve measured in services, not days. The pass is slow, timings are off, and the staff do not yet know the room. That is normal and it is also exactly when a hundred guests and three food reviewers are the worst possible idea.
So the sequence that works is: a small tasting night for friends and family where things are allowed to go wrong; two or three normal services to find the real pace; then a media and creator evening with a limited menu the kitchen has already proven; then the public opening.
We plan launches that way, and we will say so if a brief asks for a full house on night one. A new restaurant gets one set of first reviews, and they are written about the slowest service it will ever run.
Every photo here is from an event our team planned and ran.
The staging is the service.
Friends, family and the team. Low stakes, full menu, feedback collected properly.
Guest numbers and arrival slots set from what the pass can deliver per hour, honestly measured.
A curated list, a brief, a limited menu the kitchen has proven, and time to shoot before the room fills.
Warm, photographable light and a corner designed to be posted — the medium is a phone camera.
What happens each night of the first week, including a quiet night to reset.
Photographs and short video of the food and the room, handed over fast for your own channels.
Invitation-only, limited menu, before the public open.
Lighter, daytime, usually creator-led rather than press-led.
Evening, music-led, with a different licensing and timing picture.
No room to launch in, so it is entirely a content and creator exercise.
An existing restaurant with a new card — a tasting for regulars and media.
A guest chef for one evening, which is a booking-driven event.
An existing customer base told what has changed.
To the brand’s template, with local media added.
Five things. The first one is the whole page.
The kitchen will be at its slowest and the staff at their least certain. Half capacity on a tasting night, with people who will forgive it, is how a kitchen learns. A full house with reviewers in it produces a permanent record of your worst service.
Six to eight dishes the kitchen has already cooked repeatedly, plated identically every time. A full card on a media night means several dishes being made for roughly the fourth time ever, photographed and published.
Most coverage of a new Pune restaurant is phone photographs. Warm light on the tables rather than overhead, no colour cast on the food, and one corner built to be shot. This costs almost nothing and determines what the place looks like online for years.
A clear brief, a time window that is not the busiest hour, a table they can shoot at, and somebody who can answer what is in a dish. Creators treated as walk-ins post accordingly.
Food licence, and liquor if it applies, plus fire and local permissions. An opening date set before the paperwork is certain is an opening date that moves, and invitations are already out by then.

That search returns whoever advertises hardest in Pune, not whoever runs the better event. It is a starting list, and the sorting is still yours to do.
Three questions separate the shortlist quickly: has the team worked in Pune before, is the quotation itemised, and who is physically on site on the day. Our contact page has both numbers and WhatsApp, and you will get an itemised scope back rather than one figure.
Can't find yours? Call or WhatsApp — a planner answers.
A tasting night for friends and family first, then two or three normal services to find the real pace, then a media and creator evening on a limited proven menu, then the public opening. Launching to a full house on night one is how a new kitchen gets its worst service reviewed.
Set from what the pass can actually plate per hour, measured rather than estimated, and then reduced. Roughly half of what the room seats is a sensible tasting-night number, with staggered arrival slots so the kitchen is never hit with everyone at once.
No. Six to eight dishes the kitchen has already cooked repeatedly and can plate identically. A full card on a media night means several dishes being made for about the fourth time ever, then photographed and published. Narrow and excellent beats broad and uneven.
A real invitation with a brief, a time window that is not the busiest hour, a table they can actually shoot at, and someone who can explain the dishes. For a cafe or a cloud kitchen the creator list matters more than press; for a fine-dining room it is the other way round.
Light, because the coverage will be phone photographs. Warm light on the tables rather than overhead, nothing that casts colour onto food, and one corner designed to be posted. It costs very little and it determines what the place looks like online for years.
It follows how many nights are staged, the guest numbers, the decor and lighting work, whether creators and media handling are included, and whether content production is part of it. Send the opening date and the seating capacity.
Reviews and ads decide who appears first, not who runs the better event. Plan With YOLO has planned events since 2013 out of Pune and handles restaurant soft opening, cafe launch and bar or lounge launch in Pune. Ask for the breakdown — décor, stage, sound, crew, transport — and compare like for like.
Look for a team that has already worked in Pune, because venue access, power and society timings are local knowledge and cost you a day to learn. Our office is in Anand Nagar off Sinhagad Road and the crew travels to Pune with its own kit. Send the date, the venue and a rough guest count and you get a scope back the same day.
It moves with guest count, venue, the scale of décor and stage, and whether the date is in season. A wedding date in season and a weekday corporate meeting in Pune are not comparable, so a quoted range before anyone has seen the brief is not worth much. You will get an itemised scope for your own event, and every line on it can move.

Opening soon? Send the capacity and date.
Seats, the opening date, and whether the kitchen has run a full service yet. That last answer shapes the whole plan.
