A kitty party has a hard finish: half the room leaves for school pickup. We plan the theme, the seating, the games and the lunch around that window, and set it all up so the host can sit down.

A kitty party is a conversation with food and games around it, and it has a hard end time. Much of the group has to leave for school pickup, so the afternoon has to start on time, feed everyone properly and finish when it said it would. That is what we plan for.
We organise kitty parties at homes, society clubhouses, private rooms in cafés and on terraces across Pune. That covers the theme and decor, the table and seating layout, a photo corner near the entry, games with prizes, lunch and tea with service, and the clearing up afterwards. The host gets to sit down and be part of her own afternoon.
Hosting usually rotates, so we keep it easy to repeat. Once we know your group's size, your usual window and the kind of afternoon you like, planning the next round takes one message. Every round can have its own theme, and you get an itemised quote each time, so the group always knows what it is paying for.
Every photo here is from an event our team planned and ran.
Take the whole afternoon or only the parts the host would rather not handle.
A backdrop, table styling and small props in one palette, set up before the first guest arrives.
A lit corner near the entry, so photographs happen at the start while everyone still looks their best.
Seated games that run in short rounds, with an anchor if you want one and prizes wrapped in advance.
Lunch, snacks and tea planned to your timings, with service so the host is not stuck in the kitchen.
One table or one circle, arranged so the whole group stays in a single conversation.
We set up in the morning and clear everything the same afternoon, at home or in a booked space.
One room styled with a backdrop, table setting and photo corner, with service so you can sit.
A private table or room booked and dressed, with games chosen to suit a seated space.
A society clubhouse with room for games, a buffet and parking for the whole group.
An open setting with shade, seating and lighting, planned for the cooler months.
A colour code or theme carried through the decor, table styling, games and prizes.
A member's birthday marked with a cake table, balloons and a photo corner.
A traditional afternoon with rangoli, marigolds, festive food and a dress code.
A booked hall for a bigger circle, with an anchor, sound and games that scale up.

Start with the finish time. A kitty party is one of the few gatherings with a hard end: a good part of the room has to leave for school pickup, and nobody wants to be the first to go. Fix the end, count backwards from it, and the rest of the afternoon plans itself.
The second thing to settle is what the host is actually responsible for. In most groups hosting rotates, which is fair, and it also means one member is cooking, styling, serving and anchoring on the same day. That is the part worth handing over.
Most kitty parties run from late morning to mid-afternoon, which is a short window with a lot inside it. Arrival and tea always take longer than planned, because people come in twos and threes. Lunch has to be served early enough for everyone to eat properly. Games have to be short. And the group photograph needs to happen before the first person starts checking her phone.
Put the photo corner near the entrance and take pictures at the start. Everyone has dressed for the afternoon, and by the time lunch is done the light in most flats has moved and half the group is thinking about the drive home. Take the group photo before lunch, not after it.
Seating is the biggest decision at a kitty party and usually the one nobody makes. Scattered chairs split a group into islands, and once that happens the afternoon never comes back together. One long table, or one circle of chairs, keeps everybody in a single conversation. For a large group, two round tables work better than a long line where the two ends never speak.
Leave room to walk behind the chairs, keep the food counter outside the seating circle so nobody is serving through the middle, and keep the music low enough for the far end to hear. Nothing flattens an afternoon faster than a speaker set for a party at a gathering built on conversation.
Give the kitty draw its own slot and let a member run it. It is the reason the group exists, it involves money, and it should not be squeezed between a game and dessert. Announce it, do it, move on.
For the games, three rules cover almost everything. Keep everyone playing at once rather than turn by turn, because twenty people watching one person play is how an afternoon dies. Keep them seated, since most of the group is dressed for photographs rather than for running about. And keep them kind: nothing about age, weight, marriage, in-laws or anyone's money. Short rounds, a wrapped gift for everyone and one prize worth actually winning.
Themes make the photographs, and they work best when the dress code is something people already own. A colour beats a costume every time.
| Round | Theme idea | Dress code or palette | Works best in |
|---|---|---|---|
| Opening round | One colour afternoon | A shade everyone already has in the cupboard | Any month |
| Monsoon round | Indoor tea party | Pastels, warm indoor light | June to September |
| Festive round | Traditional day | Nauvari or silk, gold accents, marigolds | The festive weeks |
| Winter round | Garden brunch | Whites and florals | November to February |
| Summer round | Cool indoor afternoon | Lemon, mint, light fabrics | March to May, indoors only |
| Birthday round | The member's month | Balloons, a cake table, her choice of colour | Any month |
| Photo round | Retro Bollywood | Prints, big earrings, bold lips | When the group wants pictures |
All three work, and each fails in its own way. At home the afternoon is warm and personal, but the host disappears into the kitchen and parking becomes the society's problem, so arrange service and send the gate a guest list in advance. In a café or a private room off Deccan there is nothing to clear up, but the table comes with a time limit and the space rarely suits games, so book a room rather than a table and brief the staff on your timings.
A clubhouse in Aundh or a society hall in NIBM gives you space, parking and room to play, but you carry everything in and the booking slot is strict. A terrace or garden is the best option between November and February and the worst in May or mid-monsoon. Whichever you choose, walk the space once beforehand and decide where the table, the food and the photo corner will sit.

Kitty party organisers plan and set up the whole afternoon so the host can sit with her group. That covers the theme and decor, the seating layout, a photo corner near the entry, seated games with prizes, lunch and tea with service, and the clearing up afterwards. You get one point of contact and an itemised quote before anything is booked.
Plan backwards from the finish. Most groups meet from late morning to mid-afternoon, because a good part of the room has to leave for school pickup. Serve lunch early enough for everyone to eat properly, keep games short, and take the group photograph before lunch rather than after it, when people are already checking the time.
Games work when everybody plays at once, stays seated and nobody is embarrassed. Turn-by-turn games kill an afternoon, because twenty people end up watching one. Keep rounds short, avoid anything about age, weight, marriage, in-laws or money, and give a small wrapped gift to everyone with one better prize for the winner.
Home is warmer and cheaper, but the host ends up in the kitchen and parking becomes the society's problem, so arrange service and send a guest list to the gate. A café means nothing to clear up, but tables come with time limits and rarely suit games, so book a private room instead of a table and brief the staff on your timings.
The best themes ask for something people already own. A single colour dress code, a traditional day during the festive weeks, a garden brunch in winter, or a retro look when the group wants photographs. Avoid costumes that need shopping. Carry the theme through the backdrop, the table styling, the prizes and the photo corner.
Cost depends on the number of guests, whether it is at home or in a booked space, the size of the decor and photo corner, the menu and whether service staff are needed, the games and prizes, and how long you hold the venue. Send your group size, the date and the place, and we will reply with an itemised quote.
Yes, and it gets easier each round. Once we know your group size, your usual window and the kind of afternoon you like, the next booking takes one message. Each round can carry its own theme, decor and games, with the host changing every month, and you get a fresh itemised quote so the group always knows the cost.
