Any agency can give you a name and a price. What decides the evening is the technical rider, the travel and stay, the sound they need to sound like themselves, and a contract that says what happens if they are late.
An artist's fee is the number people compare. The rider is the number that surprises them: the monitors, the console, the backline, the travel, the rooms, the meals and the hands to load it all in.
A band quoted at one figure can land at half as much again once the rider is met, and the family or company finds out a week before. We read the rider at the shortlisting stage and put it in the scope as its own line, so the comparison between two acts is honest.
And we book with a contract that names the set length, the arrival time and what happens if they do not show — because that conversation is impossible to have on the night.

The failures here are predictable and all of them are contractual rather than musical.
Two bands at the same fee are not the same cost. One brings its own backline, the other wants a drum kit, five monitors and a specific console. Get both riders at the shortlist stage and compare the total.
It needs a slot before guests arrive, which means the stage and sound must be finished earlier than the event schedule suggests. A band soundchecking while the first guests walk in is how an evening starts badly.
"They will play for the evening" is not a term. Forty-five minutes, two sets of forty, one hour with an encore — whatever it is, it goes in the contract with the start time.
Traffic, a delayed flight, an earlier show overrunning. Decide in advance who you call, how long you hold, and what the running order becomes without them. An act that arrives an hour late is survivable; an evening with no plan for it is not.
Pune has a legal sound cut-off and venues often have a stricter one. A band booked to play until midnight at a venue that silences at ten is a problem created at booking.

The list of what an artist needs to perform — monitors, console, microphones, backline instruments, stage size, power — plus travel, rooms and meals. Two acts quoting the same fee can differ substantially once their riders are met, which is why we read them before you choose.
Yes, and specified to the rider rather than guessed. A band that asks for five monitor wedges and gets two will not sound like the recording you booked them from. Sound is quoted as its own line so you can see what the act actually requires.
It goes in the contract: who is called, how long the show holds, and what the running order becomes without them. For higher-value bookings we keep a named alternative. The time to decide this is at booking, not on the night.
There is a legal cut-off and most venues set a stricter one of their own, and outdoor venues are tighter again. Confirm both before you contract an act, because booking a band to play past the venue’s limit is a problem created on day one.
The fee, plus the rider, plus travel and stay. We show all three as separate lines so two acts can be compared honestly — the cheaper fee is frequently the more expensive booking once the rider is met.
There is no ranking that decides this, so the word means whichever team is right for your event. The number depends on guests, venue, décor and stage scale, and how close to the date you book. A wedding date in season and a weekday corporate meeting in Pune are not comparable, so a quoted range before anyone has seen the brief is not worth much.
